Note: Due to the fact
that our Summer "Camps" are actually educational classes, we
have been prohibited by the State of Massachusetts in calling them
"Camps". Therefore, we have changed the title to "Summer
Sword Adventure". Rest assured that you will be
receiving the same exceptional level of fun education and creative
entertainment in these programs that we have provided to hundreds of
kids for the past 6 years during the summer at Guard Up.

Guard Up! 2008 Summer Adventures
All Adventures involve physically interactive, light contact sparring with foam weapons that have been tested to be extremely safe and all sparring is done under the supervision of qualified staff members. Each session is a week long from 9am to 3pm everyday, so be sure to pack a lunch and a snack (doors open at 8:15am for parents who need to get to work early). Ages 10-15 who are interested in a sleep-over camp should check out our Wizards & Warriors Summer Residential Camp in central Massachusetts.
While in our air conditioned facility or on our spacious back lawn, your children will spend the day physically and mentally challenged while opening their imagination to the experience of being a warrior of History (or Myth-ory)!
Learn how to use your sword to defend yourself! The morning starts with some basic skill building in the weapon of your choice from various lands around the globe: Long sword, staff, sword and shield, sword and dagger or double sword. Enjoy lessons, drills and even full scale battles with your fellow warriors as you change alliances, develop new strategies and strive to out maneuver your opponents.
New! Armor Making Lessons! Our Instructors will help you create your own pieces of chainmail or leather armor - just like the armor they used in medieval times. Learn the techniques and equipment necessary for starting your own suit of armor and bring it home!

The afternoon involves games of myth and adventure. Roleplay a hero (or a monster), be a warrior princess, or the villain of the lands... But none may succeed against the terrible hordes without using their lessons in teamwork, creative problem solving and communication skills!
Each adventure session has an ongoing storyline that culminates in a climactic event on Friday... where warriors and wizards of all ages must use the skills they have learned throughout the week to accomplish their objective. Costumes are welcome and battle cries are encouraged.
This is a summer event to remember!
